Commisioners — Amsterdam City Council, The Netherlands
Year — 2012
Architecture, Sculpture
Under this brand new – and prizewinning -park and urban development in the center of Amsterdam, lies part of the ancient city-wall of Amsterdam’s golden age. Inspired by this historic presence, five oversized shards are placed in sequence in the park. These fragments refer to the idea of a history that consists of pieces of data, such as the shards of pots and dishes that one finds in digging in the clay soil of Amsterdam. The outside skin was designed in collaboration with Niessen& de Vries
The commission was created and coordinated by Marco Cops of the Wiseguys and Paula van Zijl.
Materials: laser cut corten steel (outside), Stainless steel (inside)
